The camera with no moving parts ... no tape for HD shooting

The HD filmmaker now has an approach to digital filmmaking that offers "no excuses" for high-end image quality. Sony invented one of the early HD camera system ... and Panasonic leap frogged the industry with a camera that offers Directors of Photography a more satisfying color look. This was the Panasonic Varicam. It shoots in a 720 line format with progressive scan ... and variable frame rates for slow motion. It's a hit as a cameraperson's camera.

But, Panasonic has done it again with the new HVX-200 that shoots both 720 and 1080 resolution. And, Panasonic does it with no tape. No tape opens the door to an improved color depth and an unique approach to editing.

This is the camera system that is becoming the choice for School students in their independent project work. It's not easy, however, as this camera offers hundreds of setup options. Qualifying on the camera in the Cinematography & Lighting course here is the first step to preparing for real world results with the HVX-200.
